Summer Elopement Styled Shoot

Last summer a stellar creative team and I decided it would be fun to do a styled shoot… in June… in the middle of the day… in 120 degree weather. Unfortunately, during busy season (a.k.a. when the weather is nice) it’s nearly impossible to do any personal creative work so we must wait until season ends and it’s hotter than hades out, but nonetheless we made some magic happen at The Arizona Inn. Inspired by the Inn’s classic southwest vibe we used copper (Arizona’s state meta), magenta bougainvillea, desert air plants, tequila (duh), turquoise and even some cobalt blue in the overall design.

We had a real-life couple as our models which makes styled shoots so much more fun and “real.” Their chemistry was awesome and I’m super thankful they braved the elements with us. J Bridal Boutique provided some stunning gowns, but this Wtoo by Waters was hands down the perfect fit for our bride and overall shoot inspiration. Brooks Brothers also graciously put together several suit options for our groom. Heather Van Houten on hair and makeup killed it as always and created a gorgeous bridal look.

Brie Dumais of Brie Dumais Designs designed amazing invitations that incorporated wood for the main invite, hand drawn mountains and the most gorgeous watercolor envelope liners. Check out how the different envelope colors completely change the suite’s look.

We wanted to play with a couple of different looks for the tablescape so you’ll see different vessel and color combinations below. One look is a little more refined and simple while the other is a bit more bold and fun. Just by adding the cobalt blue water goblets the entire look of the table was transformed. Jara of Urban Stems worked her magic arranging various pieces with the most gorgeous garden roses, peonies and bougainvillea. Frostings Event Design & Rentals provided the refined wood dining table, chairs and miscellaneous furniture.
